ABOUT the press

UMSHA Press was founded in 1994, the note in the University’s calendar reporting a Publications Committee would be created to ‘disseminate knowledge’. Primarily it was created as an outlet to publish academic research being carried out within the Hamadan University of Medical Sciences (UMSHA). The Press is perhaps best known as a publisher of books and journals in the medical sciences. UMSHA Press was an early publisher of books and journals in medical studies. Today, it continues in those fields and in newer ones such as clinical studies, medical biochemistry, microbiology, dentistry, health psychology, physiology and environmental and occupational health, and health education and promotion.

Our aim is to always deliver best practices across our publishing activities. We embrace opportunities to innovate and explore new ways of supporting scholarly communications, and endeavour to be engaged and responsive to the changing needs of the academic community and our broader readership. We work closely with our parent institution, the Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, the largest research university in the west of Iran.

Governance of UMSHA Press

To enable further research and development in scholarly publication, the Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication holds frequent meetings to explore new areas of interest and to develop strategic plans in dealing with challenges and the expansion of activities. Directors and advisors are equal members and contribute to the discussions of this committee.

Prof. Shokoohi obtained his PhD degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He is an academic member of department of Environmental Health Engineering at UMSHA (June 1994-Present). He has published over 136 scientific papers in the international journals. Membership in professional associations: Iranian Association of Environmental Health (IAEH)
	Majid Barati, PhD    Director of UMSHA Press Office  ,   ,
Dr. Barati obtained his PhD degree from Tarbiat Modarres University, Iran. He is an academic member of department of Health Education and Promotion at UMSHA (June 2015-Present). He is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of journal of Education and Community Health (2014-Present). He has published over 140 scientific papers in the international journals. Membership in professional associations: Member of Iranian Health Education & Promotion Association

Prof. Iraj Khodadadi obtained his PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry /Clinical Biochemistry at Surrey University, United Kingdom. He is a full professor of UMSHA Faculty of Medicine and has over 20 years of teaching and research experience in academic settings in Iran. He has published over 105 scientific papers in international journals and 1 book chapter in international textbooks. Prof. Saeed Bashirian obtained his PhD degree from the Tarbait Modares University, Iran. He is a full professor of UMSHA Faculty of public health and has over 25 years of teaching and research experience in academic settings in Iran. He has published over 120 scientific papers in international journals and he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Education and Community Health (2015-Present).
